  • Fall & Winter: Seasonal joint stiffness, mood shifts, cedar fever, and immune stress during cold/flu season.
  • Year-Round: Desk-related neck and back pain, stress from demanding schedules, fertility and women’s health concerns, and digestive issues influenced by diet and stress.

How Does Acupuncture Work?

Your body can heal but sometimes it gets stuck. Stress, injury, poor sleep, inflammation, and lifestyle factors can disrupt the flow of energy and communication between systems.

Acupuncture uses ultra-fine needles to stimulate specific points that help:

  • Activate the nervous system for deep relaxation
  • Reduce inflammation and pain by improving circulation
  • Balance hormones and support immune function
  • Release tight muscles and calm the stress response
  • Restore internal communication pathways

Think of it like a gentle reset that guides your body back into balance so it can do what it’s designed to do.

I had the pleasure of getting a free 30 min acupuncture treatment from Mia at the South Austin location. This was my first time receiving acupuncture, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect going in. Their intake form was pretty lengthy, but I was happy it asked a lot of questions, mostly pertaining to digestion/muscle tension/stress/emotional well being. One thing that was not asked on the form though was whether or not I was pregnant, and I'm 17 weeks pregnant, so Mia wasn't aware of that until I got into the room for my consultation. She said she would mention that to the team who puts together the intake questions, but wanted to mention that here as well. Mia and I talked for about 10 mins or so so we could discuss my answers and go over my concerns in more detail. She also asked me to explain some of my answers a little more once we were in person. Once she found out I was pregnant, we had to adjust some of my areas of concerns since I couldn't lay on my stomach, but that didn't bother me at all. Stress was the biggest area that I wanted to address when coming in, so once I was laying on the table, Mia placed the acupuncture needles in various places to help with that. Then she turned a sound machine on and let me be for 30 mins, and it was really nice. I felt some pulses occasionally at the different places where the needles were, but overall I just felt like I was laying down meditating. I fell asleep for about 15 of the 30 mins which was also nice. After I left, I definitely felt more calm and relaxed. I would have to do more sessions to determine the true benefits of acupuncture for myself, but overall I very much enjoyed the first time experience!
Response from the owner:Thank you, Taylor, for the detailed and thoughtful review. We are glad Mia and the South Austin team made your first acupuncture experience calming and restorative and that you left feeling more relaxed. We appreciate you pointing out that pregnancy was not on the intake form and will share that feedback with our team to improve the intake process. We look forward to welcoming you back if you choose to continue sessions.
