Microneedling involves the use of fine needles to create tiny micro-channels on the surface of the skin. These micro-injuries stimulate a healing response, leading to increased production of collagen and elastin. The process can be performed on various areas of the body, including the face, neck, scalp and chest.

The microneedling process stimulates your body’s natural wound healing in three phases:

  • Inflammation: The micro-injuries trigger an inflammatory response, increasing blood flow and initiating the cleansing of the wounds. This phase helps to create new tissue.
  • Proliferation: New cells begin to rebuild the skin’s matrix, replacing the old, damaged tissue.
  • Remodeling: The wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels, resulting in improved skin texture and tone.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Skin needling, also known as microneedling or collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure aimed at rejuvenating the skin by promoting collagen and elastin production.  The procedure involves using a device equipped with fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries on the skin’s surface. These tiny punctures stimulate the skin’s natural healing process, leading to increased collagen and elastin production. Over time, this helps to improve the skin’s texture and firmness, reducing the appearance of aging signs and other imperfections.

Patients should avoid microneeding if:

  • Pregnant
  • Have an active cold sore
  • Have tested positive for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, or HIV
  • Have had laser resurfacing in the past three months
  • Have a history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring or poor wound healing
  • Have undergone radiation treatment in the last 12 months.

During the treatment, you should expect controlled micro-injuries, slight discomfort, and post-treatment redness and sensitivity. After a few days, the side effects will subside, and your skin will become stronger and younger due to enhanced collagen production.
