It’s Time to Quit Smoking

As more and more studies are released every day, it’s been proven time and time again that smoking is one of the worst things you can do to your body. It may seem easy to quit, but when a habit becomes physiologically engrained into your everyday life, what seemed easy is sometimes one of the most difficult challenges you may encounter. The smoking cessation industry makes millions and millions every year attempting to help people quit smoking and most people do not find smoking cessation gums, patches, or medication to be effective because it’s simply masking an addiction you have built up for many, many years. When the smoking habit is addressed from an inner-healing perspective at the root with acupuncture for smoking, you’ll find it to be much more effective than any patch, gum, or medication. Read on to find out why!

Acupuncture for Quitting Smoking

We understand you may be asking yourself: “How will acupuncture help me quit smoking?”. This is a completely valid question and we have the answers. With acupuncture for smoking, we discover the areas of the body which have been affected for the years you’ve subjected your body to the abuse which is inherent with smoking. After so many years, the body begins to shut down and the normal flow of energy, blood, and qi begins to be halted by a toxic buildup of carcinogens, harmful materials, and an overall toxic composition which tricks your body into feeling comfortable with addiction to cigarettes. When we at Bee Cave Acupuncture & Nutrition identify the points of the body which are being most affected and proceed to release the obstructions negatively affecting the natural flow of energy, blood, and qi; your body is then able to recognize the natural state it once was in prior to picking up smoking. This is the basis of acupuncture: returning the body to its natural state, flow, and rhythm in a time where so many of us have been negatively affected by unnatural, toxic elements of our modern world. When you’re able to feel as your best self once again, you won’t feel the need to smoke a cigarette any longer and the feelings of addiction will have seceded.

Why Choose Bee Cave Acupuncture & Nutrition?

We’re the best at what we do. Our staff is highly-trained in all aspects of acupuncture and are always striving to continue our education. Our facilities are state-of-the-art and we provide a comfortable, welcoming environment for all of our patients to feel right at home and have the best experience possible. Acupuncture for Tinnitus: A Solution?

You may have been encountering the seemingly never-ending ringing in your ear for quite some time now. You may have tried every potential solution under the sun and have still not had any long-lasting results. Have you tried acupuncture for your tinnitus yet? It may seem as though acupuncture would not have an effect on your tinnitus, but that is not the case! There have been numerous studies indicating acupuncture for tinnitus is a viable solution and should ultimately be considered, especially if you’ve run out of options from the standard medical solutions audiologists and Otorhinolaryngology specialists have offered. It’s time you take the step in the right direction towards natural healing and offer yourself a solution to the suffering. With acupuncture for tinnitus, you may never again have to worry about that ever-lasting ringing in your ear.

How to Stop Ringing in Ear?

The above statement is something you may ask yourself every single day if you suffer from tinnitus. At Bee Cave Acupuncture & Nutrition, we not only address tinnitus from an acupuncture standpoint, we address it from a whole-body perspective as well. Tinnitus can be heavily influenced by stress, dietary choices, exercise regimen (or lack thereof), sleep, and so many other factors. It’s important for us to understand how you’re treating your body and then we’ll be able to best form a plan of action to address your condition. When addressing your condition, it’s important to remember the body can heal itself when given the opportunity to do so. While we’ll able to send positive qi energy and stimulate blood-flow to your ear to possibly help heal the damage causing your tinnitus, you’ll have to maintain precautions to ensure the damage does not occur again and worsen over time. This means you’ll have to wear ear protection when attending loud events and/or concerts and maintain a healthy, non-inflammatory diet to ensure your ears can hear successfully and have the chance to fully heal. Most often, sufferers of tinnitus work in loud jobs and have to be exposed to such loud noises on a daily basis. If this is your situation, you must wear ear-protection at all times when working. It is vital to ensuring a successful course of treatment and progressing onwards with healing.

Tinnitus Relief: Sometimes Instant, Sometimes It Takes a Bit

After all is said and done, you may notice immediate relief after the first session, or it may take a few more sessions before you’re fully satisfied with results. In treating tinnitus with acupuncture, it’s truly a case-by-case basis dependent upon many factors including everything from how badly damaged the ear is to how long you’ve waited to treat the issue to how often you are exposed to excessively loud noises. All of these factors can determine how successful the treatment plan will be and how long it will take, but rest assured, we at Bee Cave Acupuncture & Nutrition have excellent experience in treating cases of tinnitus and we’ll be happy to do so with you as well. Feel free to contact us via our appointment scheduler or give us a call here at: 1-512-842-4416 We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Does Acupuncture Actually Hurt?

Chances are you’ve seen pictures or videos of somebody receiving acupuncture and you may have thought to yourself, “acupuncture looks like it hurts!”. This is a fair assumption, because it appears as though you are having needles stuck into your body. Even though it may seem painful, it’s actually not for the majority of patients. You’ve probably read about the wonderful, positive effects acupuncture can bring to your body, or perhaps some of your friends have nothing but great things to say about it. With all of this positive buzz surrounding acupuncture, you may still be wondering; does acupuncture hurt? We answer your question, and more, below.

What Does Acupuncture Feel Like?

Don’t worry, the vast majority of people experience no pain with acupuncture treatment. If anything, you might feel a slight pinprick, or perhaps a mild tingling sensation. Most patients feel almost nothing at all, except maybe the ever so slight pressure of the needle on your skin. Even if you were in the minority of people who felt a tingle or an ache at the acupuncture point, the sensation will not be a painful one which causes you to grimace in pain.

It Feels Good!

Quite the contrary, you won’t feel pain, but a completely different sensation which will make you wish you would have not waited so long to receive acupuncture treatment. This sensation is what we call “qi”, and while everybody feels “qi” differently, but it is never sharp or painful. Acupuncture is a comfortable experience which most people relate with these sensations:

Tingly

The acupuncture needle can cause a tingling sensation at the site sometimes immediately, and sometimes intermittently throughout the body while the acupuncture session is occurring. This is a pleasant sensation.

Electric

There are certain acupuncture points which may give you a slight shock, or “zapped” feeling. This is not painful, but can be surprising to some. Don’t worry, the jolt quickly disappears. The reason for this sensation is due to the nerve being stimulated which runs directly beneath the acupuncture point.

Warmth

Many patients will feel a warmth which spreads throughout the body, engulfing the acupuncture points. This warming effect is similar to a heating pad on different parts of your body, and is a pleasant feeling.

Heaviness

Sometimes the acupuncture point can feel as though a weight was placed on the area. This weight can expand to the other areas of body where the acupuncture points are also placed. This feeling of heaviness is relaxing and provides a sense of calmness.

We’re Here for You

If you are nervous about acupuncture because you are afraid of the needles hurting, come talk to us and we will happily talk you through the process and all of the different sensations you may feel. We will also discuss with you the various benefits of an acupuncture treatment plan and what we can do to help. Contact us today for an appointment!

Acupuncture for IBS: A Natural Solution?

Ask anyone who has suffered through the effects of IBS and they will tell you it is not fun, whatsoever. IBS, the acronym for Irritable Bowel Syndrome, is a condition which causes users to have a chronically upset stomach and bowel, leading to alterations in one’s lifestyle, social activities, and overall health. Needless to say, if you or someone you know has suffered through such an ordeal, they’ll often try just about anything for relief. However, there’s good news! There have been many instances where a proper acupuncture treatment plan will greatly improve and/or eliminate symptoms of IBS when paired with a healthy adjustment to one’s diet, exercise, and lifestyle routine. Without further ado, let’s dive in to the ins-and-outs of IBS and how acupuncture for IBS may be your best option!

Common Side Effects of IBS

IBS can be one of the most uncomfortable conditions due to its associated symptoms and sometimes extremely painful conditions! Here are some of the most commonly associated symptoms of IBS:

  • Bloating
  • Constipation
  • Gas
  • Clear and/or White Mucus
  • Diarrhea
  • Uncontrollable and/or Extremely Difficult to Pass Bowel Movements
  • Alternating Between Constipation and Diarrhea On a Daily Basis

How Acupuncture Can Help IBS

The above-mentioned symptoms pose a very bothersome set of ailments which can be relieved with the help of an acupuncture plan. See below how we address each symptom commonly associated with IBS:

Bloating

Bloating can happen to many, many people; especially if they’ve just ingested a rather large meal. With IBS, the bloating seems to appear out of nowhere and will continue to occur for hours after each meal, leading to an overall uncomfortable feeling which can lead to one being uncomfortable in their own skin. With acupuncture, we allow the gas and bloating to pass and be relieved through a strategic placement of acupuncture needling, releasing the blocked meridians and areas of the body which are causing the bloating. This flow of energy to the affected area will further help expedite the healing process in conjunction with a balanced diet and exercise.

Constipation

At Bee Cave Acupuncture & Nutrition, we prefer to approach the ailments our patients are experiencing with a “whole-body” approach. The “whole-body” approach encompasses not only our acupuncture treatments, but also maintaining a fiber-filled, whole food, no added sugar, organic diet. This will tremendously improve your constipation and help the body heal with all of the benefits of nutrients being derived from the amazing food which Mother Nature has provided us here on Earth.

Gas

Gas can be bothersome and nobody enjoys taking anti-gas pills all day long and feeling only a temporary sense of relief. Where acupuncture comes in to assist the gas-relief process is through focusing on the affected areas of the body which will be relieved through targeting areas of blocked qi and providing energy to flow effectively and efficiently, thus allowing your body to properly digest the food you consume and relieve the problem.

Clear and/or White Mucus in Stool

This symptom is often a symptom of the IBS symptoms. What we mean by this is the fact of IBS causing disruption to your overall gut health and thus causing your bowel movements to not be properly digested and travel through your intestinal tract. All of this leads to an imbalance which acupuncture for IBS can address. When the problem is corrected at its core, the lingering, accessory side-effects of the main ailment will no longer be present.

Diarrhea

Diarrhea can be the result of your body not agreeing with what you’ve eaten and unable to fully digest your meal. This results in the body believing your food to be somewhat incompatible and/or harmful and will proceed to reject the food as quickly as possible, thus resulting in symptoms of diarrhea. High-sugar diets and little to no fiber can lead to extremely discomforting diarrhea. This is why we always offer consultation on the best diet to adhere to on a case-by-case basis for everyone’s unique needs.

Alternating Between Constipation and Diarrhea On a Daily Basis

With IBS, it’s most common to have either extreme constipation or uncontrollable bowel movements; there’s no happy-medium. With acupuncture for IBS, we stimulate the energy flow and remove the blockage of the qi so your body is able to begin healing and the connection between your brain and gut will be stronger, thus leading to an overall stronger performance within both areas of the body.

Why You Should Consider Acupuncture for IBS

If you’re reading this article, you are most likely searching for an alternative solution to a seemingly endless problem. With Acupuncture for IBS, we at Bee Cave Acupuncture & Nutrition address the ailments your body is currently experiencing by determining the root cause of the issue, not masking it, and proceeding to explore the best options for your unique condition. Acupuncture has been around for centuries and is well-tested with proven results. It’s about time you started healing and we’re happy to help you begin the process towards better health! Acupuncture for Acne: A Solution?

Acne can be a constant battle for many people and the battle only seems to become worse if left unaddressed. Whether it be hormones, poor diet, lack of exercise, stress, or excessively oily skin clogging your pores; acne can be a real pain to treat effectively and efficiently. There are several root causes of acne which many dermatologists do not address in their evaluations of a patient. These same root causes can end up wreaking havoc on the skin and cause numerous, unintended side-effects to develop over time; particularly social side-effects. We’ll be discussing throughout this piece how acupuncture for acne can help you in so many ways and allow you to live the life you want to live: acne free.

Acne Side-Effects

Acne can cause a host of side-effects to develop over time and this can further cause social side-effects to develop and before you know it, you may be exhibiting the following:

  • Depression
  • Scarring
  • Anxiety
  • Anti-Social Behavior
  • Loneliness
  • Isolation
  • Painful Cysts
  • Lack of Self-Confidence

and these are just a few of the side-effects which can manifest over time. It’s best to address these and all other side-effects associated with acne as soon as possible. When you address the problem at it’s root, it cannot survive any longer. Acne is similar to a weed in that sense. When you stop the root cause of that issue, you’ll no longer experience the painful weeds (pimples in this case) continue to pop up.

How Acupuncture Helps Your Acne

A big source of acne troubles can begin with an improper flow of nutrients from food to your skin. This can be exemplified by localized acne which may appear in certain areas on your face and/or body after eating certain foods which trigger a breakout. To address this common issue, acupuncture can break up the obstructions causing these localized acne-prone areas to continue to develop and clear the pathway for a proper diet to take its effect. There are also several areas throughout the body which can be stimulated by acupuncture to allow the body to begin healing itself internally, causing your skin to glow, shine, and be the best version of itself. This will restore your confidence and allow you to take control of your life from a social, health, and mental perspective. While acupuncture can help with many acne problem areas, your diet is the true source of improvement if optimized to the highest degree.

Why Diet Matters So Much for Your Skin?

The age-old phrase: “You are what you eat.” has never rang louder than when it comes to the health of your skin. It is so true. Everything you decide to eat makes its way to your skin and will certainly show if you’ve decided to binge on sugary, unhealthy food. This is why at Bee Cave Acupuncture & Nutrition, we take a whole-body approach to address your acne. Nutrition, Stress-Management, Acupuncture, and so much more is involved in a whole-body, holistic approach. This approach treats the problem as opposed to masking it with creams, pills, and painful/damaging facial peels. If you’re tired of the standard trips to the dermatologist with little to no results, contact us today at:

“I Can’t Sleep!” Acupuncture Can Remedy Your Insomnia

If you’ve ever uttered those words when you’re extremely tired yet unable to sleep, you may have insomnia. Insomnia can be caused by many things: stress, anxiety, over-exposure to blue-light, and the list goes on. Acupuncture for insomnia can place a lot of your insomnia issues at bay while you work to correct the other factors in your life causing you to stay awake when you just want to sleep. In this post we’ll discuss the benefits of acupuncture for insomnia, sleep-depravation, and how the processes involved in acupuncture can provide a path to many, many additional benefits you would have never guessed.

Acupuncture for Insomnia

Insomnia can be caused by many things:

  • Blue-Light
  • Stress
  • Diet
  • Lack of Exercise
  • and so much more

Blue-Light

The seemingly constant, over-exposure to blue light from our phones, tablets, and computers is altering our sleep cycles and sleep schedules. This is in turn throwing off the remainder of our day and causing low-productivity, added stress, and weight gain. There are several methods to reduce one’s exposure to blue-light and it all begins with realigning your priorities and determining whether or not that one extra email or text right before bed is worth it or not. If you value your health and well-being, you’ll wait until the morning when your body is prepared to take on the day. If you absolutely cannot avoid your phone, tablet, or computer before bed; you’ll want to download a color-warming application to alter the emitted light from cold-blue to a warm-glow hue and this will allow you to not be over-stimulated by the light emitted from your device.

Stress

We all know stress is bad and if you’ve ever experienced insomnia, it has most likely occurred at least once under a period of extreme stress. We’re not sure of the exact reason for stress causing insomnia, but it is most likely due to the effects on the body stress seems to induce. Higher blood-pressure, elevated adrenaline levels, heightened “fight-or-flight” levels, etc… All of these combined can cause many ailments to arise in the human body and insomnia is definitely one of the most common ailments associated with stress.

Diet

Many individuals will notice certain foods can trigger insomnia to occur. Too much caffeine, sugar, or alcohol and before you know it, you’ll be laying down, wishing you hadn’t over-indulged. It’s important to maintain a healthy, whole-food diet to increase your resilience against insomnia. Whole, real, unprocessed foods have all the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients you need to supply your body with the energy and defense system it needs to combat annoying conditions such as insomnia.

Lack of Exercise

Blood flow is extremely important to combating insomnia. This is is why it’s vital to exercise regularly. Exercise allows your blood to flow freely, your muscles to constrict and contract, and endorphins to be released which will help allow the mind, body, and soul to relax and prevent insomnia from occurring. When there’s a lack of exercise, one begins to feel sluggish, depressed, lethargic, and an overall feeling of unhealthiness. Staying on top of a regular exercise routine not only helps with preventing insomnia but it also helps you lose weight, feel healthier, look healthier, and reduce stress.

“Why Should I choose Acupuncture for My Insomnia?”

That’s a great question! Acupuncture has provided relief for insomnia sufferers for centuries and our techniques here at Bee Cave Acupuncture & Nutrition have proven to be effective for many individuals. We’re excited to start helping you live the life you want and take control of your well-being. Feel free to contact us via phone at: 1-512-263-4099 or request an appointment, here! Looking forward to meeting you soon!

PTSD Affects So Many

With so many traumatic events occurring in this day and age, it’s easy for one to have a mild case of PTSD balloon into a life-altering, debilitating case of PTSD. When ignored, PTSD can manifest into a beast of its own and cause potentially life-threatening scenarios to occur. An estimated 8% of Americans have PTSD at any given time and this number is only expected to grow with the large number of traumatic incidents occurring on a seemingly daily basis. With acupuncture for PTSD, we at Bee Cave Acupuncture & Nutrition treat the root of the problem through natural healing and don’t mask it with pharmaceuticals which can only be a band-aid solution for a real, physiological problem which affects so many.

Some PTSD Facts

An estimated 70% of adults experience a life-altering, traumatic event at least once in their life

With so many people experiencing these terrible, life-altering events and feeling as though they have no one to turn to most times, it’s more important than ever to seek help for your mental health. Without mental health, every other aspect of your life will be affected.

Women are twice as likely as men to develop PTSD

An estimated 1 out of 10 women will develop PTSD in their lives and this is nearly double the amount of men who will develop PTSD throughout their life.

Extreme Trauma Can Cause PTSD to Develop

When a traumatic event occurs, it sends signals to your brain of fear, panic, stress, and an overall sense of helplessness. This feeling, when recalled over and over in the affected individual’s memory, can actually change the brain’s chemistry and signal firing over time; all leading to extreme cases of depression, anxiety, and PTSD.

Always Being On Edge, Guarded, and Hyper-Aware

This sense of constant urgency can be the result of a personality change which is developed over time from the extreme trauma and negative energy being permeated throughout the affected individual’s body whenever they recall the life-altering experience they’ve encountered.

Anti-Social Behavior

If the affected individual is triggered by certain sounds, smells, visuals, or anything else which can be a trigger related to the traumatic event, they may avoid all social activities out of fear of being sent back into a downwards spiral and reliving their traumatic experience.

How Acupuncture Helps PTSD

PTSD, in many cases, can be treated effectively with stimulating areas of the body which have lost blood flow, energies, and qi; resulting in those areas of the body becoming empty shells of what they used to be. This treatment, compounded with a healthy diet, exercise, and speaking to a qualified psychologist can truly make a fantastic change in one’s view of their own life and the world while promoting healing from within. Once the healing process begins, the body recognizes you’re trying to better your condition and will subsequently allow other areas of the body to heal as well. The beautiful thing about the human body is it’s always attempting to heal itself, as long as your provide the right environment for it to do so, it will heal successfully.

acupuncture-carpal-tunnel--1200x800.jpeg

Carpal Tunnel Causes

Carpal Tunnel is becoming a more and more common ailment plaguing people who are in developed countries. Sitting at a desk all day, typing up reports and before you know it, you start to feel some intense pain in your wrists and fingers. This is the fist sign of a developing case of carpal tunnel syndrome and should be addressed as soon as possible. The repetitive motion of a task, such as typing can cause your fingers, wrists, and forearms to become weakened over time and start to develop painful side-effects. It’s not only a desk job which will potentially cause carpal tunnel syndrome, but the repetitive motion and heightened strain of nearly any activity will definitely increase your chances of developing such a condition over time.

Carpal Tunnel Side-Effects

Some of carpal tunnel syndrome’s side-effects include:

  • Sharp, shooting pains
  • Inability to perform a task or activity
  • Neuropathy
  • Arthritic-like conditions
  • And so much more

These side-effects not only have a physical aspect to them, but they also have a social aspect as well. Say you want to play your favorite sport with your family and friends, with carpal tunnel syndrome you may be limited in how much you can actively participate or you may not even be able to participate whatsoever. This can lead to a series of mental downturns where one can become depressed, anxiety-ridden, and have an overall feeling of malaise. These mental symptoms can then manifest into physical symptoms and before you know it, an issue with your hand has caused a whole host of additional issues to present themselves. This is why it’s so vital you treat your carpal tunnel syndrome as soon as possible, preferably with a natural approach such as acupuncture for carpal tunnel.

How Acupuncture Helps Carpal Tunnel

With acupuncture’s stimulation of the affected nerves in your finger, hand, wrist, and/or forearm area, you’ll be able to have a more promoted blood flow and greater amouts of energy dedicated to the affected area. The nerves will then be stimulated enough to cause the natural healing process to begin its course. Throughout several treatments, you’ll begin to notice first and foremost your pain subsiding. This part of the healing process will expedite your body’s natural healing capabilities as constant pain can be a contributing stressor and cause your body to be in a constant state of “fight-or-flight” mode, leading to an inability to heal. Once the pain subsides, the real healing will begin. This process of stimulating the nerves so blood flow, energy, and positive qi can make its way to the affected area is the root of the acupuncture methodology. With all of these components focusing on such an acute area, the body reacts with an overwhelming feeling of gratitude and the problem begins to correct itself. The premise of acupuncture is allowing the body to heal itself through nerve stimulation and in nearly all cases of ailments, when the body is set back to its original state of natural movement, alignment, blood-flow, and energy flow; you’ll begun to see a great measure of healing begin to occur.

Schedule an Appointment Today!

After reading all of this and if you’re feeling up to trying our alternative healing methods of acupuncture, contact us at: 1-512-263-4099 or fill out a contact form here and we’ll be sure to contact you promptly. We’re very excited you’ve begun your search for a natural solution for your carpal tunnel syndrome and we’ll be thrilled to help you heal through acupuncture. Looking forward to meeting you soon!

back-pain-1911009_1280-1200x1200.png

“Ow! My back!”

Have you ever uttered those words before when your back just went out from lifting a heavy box instead of hiring a moving company or just simply feels “out of wack”? Acupuncture for back pain is a growing treatment option for those suffering from this common condition. Back pain is a very common problem, especially in developed countries where sitting for 8-10 hours per day is a common occurrence. This back pain can lead to some truly nasty consequences down the line and cause you to feel utterly miserable of not properly addressed in due time. Some of the consequences of ignoring your back pain are:

  • Developing a gimp/limp due to overcompensation of one side of your body
  • Relying on liver-damaging pain pills for temporary relief, potentially leading liver failure
  • Inability to participate in your favorite physical activities
  • Inability to complete average, daily tasks and chores
  • Depression due to all of the above
  • And so much more…

“Is there a solution to my back pain?”

We’re glad you asked this question. The answer is “Yes!”. At Bee Cave Acupuncture & Nutrition, we specialize in providing relief and healing of back pain issues on a broad scale. From a minor muscle ache to a full-blown chronic back pain issue, our acupuncture techniques will allow you to thrive and say “goodbye” to back pain. Forget taking a plethora of pain pills to mask the symptoms of chronic back pain. With acupuncture, you’re treating the root cause of your back pain in most cases and this allows your body the chance to start healing instead of taking one step forward, two steps backwards. Treating the root cause through natural methods such as acupuncture, chiropractic care, and diet will help much more instead of placing a “band-aid” on the issue which will never solve what’s going on underneath the surface. Contact us today at: 1-512-263-4069 or fill out a contact form here and we’ll promptly return your message with a phone call to schedule an appointment. We’re looking forward to providing relief for your back pain ASAP.
